Right, blog post number 2…I’m going to start with the every day staple that is the bra. Most of us women have to wear them and I asked the question in my first blog regarding underwired bras (in larger sizes) can they ever be comfortable? Well, in my opinion (which this blog is) I’m YET to find an underwired bra that I find comfortable in larger sizes. By comfortable I mean, a bra I can wear all day without it digging and poking into me. Actually I think I may go one step further and ask can any DD plus bra be comfortable? (I’m using the phrase DD plus as that is what usually constitutes larger than average).
I have to ask this as I’ve been a DD plus size since, well since forever it seems! Over the years, I’ve been forced, yes FORCED to stick to a specific brand of bra. May I introduce the Triumph Doreen!
Not the most attractive of bras, but does the job…please note ‘Doreen’ is without wires too. Do we think Doreen can do her job without wires (underwired)? What actually is the purpose of the bra? According to good old Wikipedia:
“Brassiere, commonly referred to as a bra, a woman’s undergarment that supports her breasts”
…surely it isn’t JUST about support? Comfort should be a fundamental part of this ‘ole bra right? We want support and comfort and if possible a smooth shape/line under our clothes. We don’t want the multiple breast thing or commonly referred to as the dreaded ‘overspill’🙈
The other problem is underwired bras and non wired bras actually give a different ‘look’ under our clothes. Bra manufacturers you’re not getting it right… We need supportive, comfortable bras…ideally a non wired bra (so then we don’t have to endure poking or sticking wires) that looks and gives the lift/shape of an underwired bra in a large cup size! Do these types of bra exist? There is no point in having a 42H cup bra with ‘thin’ bra straps more suited to that of a 34B bra, it simply doesn’t work! You can go in M&S, Victoria’s Secret, BHS to name a few and DEFINITELY find larger cup bras but the bra straps!… seriously, the support the bra is going to give I doubt is ever really sufficient. Yes I’m aware the ‘wire’ in underwired bras is meant to be the supportive part but believe me when I say as a larger busted woman I’ve tried numerous underwired bras and don’t ever feel there is enough support in the straps (normally due to the thickness of the bra straps). Larger ladies which bras do you recommend? Do you find them comfortable?
Let’s help each other to find comfortable, supportive larger sized bras! Oh and I should add stylish and sexy too, yes ‘Doreen’ serves her purpose but she’s hardly classic, sexy or stylish (in my opinion). Bra manufacturers and suppliers, Freya, Debenhams, Marisota, Simply Be, Bravissimo, M&S, Ann Summers, Victoria’s Secret to name a few…let’s sort this out!
So to end ladies, as a larger busted individual which make/brand do you choose ladies? Is it comfortable? Is it supportive? Is it stylish? Please comment below.

I have been following your blog keenly, because strange as it may seems, I have an interest in a business that has set up a website to cater for underwear as per your blog http://kimeecurves.com/
